Peace process in its final stage: PM

Kathmandu

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that the peace process was reaching its final stages during his six-month tenure in the premiership.
Speaking at a program at Rajbiraj on Saturday, PM Bhattarai was confident of concluding the peace process within the end of this month and maintained that political parties were striving to promulgate the new constitution before May 27. “6500 Maoist combatants will be integrated in Nepal Army,” PM said, adding, “Parties are discussing on the future of other combatants.”
PM Bhattarai said that peace process and statute drafting were the major goal of the current government and would complete the twin tasks at any cost.
Speaking on the issue of federalism on the new constitution, PM said, “The government is concerned about federalism in the new constitution. Rumour that the constitution is going to be drafted without federalism is baseless. The government is committed in drafting the new constitution ensuring federalism in it.” PM expressed his optimism to participate Madhesi, indigenous communities in the new constitution.
