Giri challenges govt to prove charges against her

Kathmandu
Sacked Minister for Labour and Transport Management Sarita Giri, who was relieved from the ministerial post over corruption charges, has challenged the government to prove the charges levelled against her.
Minister Giri was sacked on Friday for working hand-in-glove with controversial manpower agencies.
Speaking at Reporters Club in the Capital on Friday, former Minister Giri said that she would quit politics if the charges levelled against her were proven to be true. She claimed that the prime minister had to fire here under pressure from bureaucracy. She added she was sacked even after the plot to embroil her in a corruption case failed.
“I was under pressure to register four manpower agencies. I refused to succumb to the pressure but I was sacked even if the plot to drag me in corruption failed,” said Giri.
Giri ruled out the possibility of any kind of corruption if the secretary and joint secretary of Nepal government work honestly. She went on to claim that she was removed from the post as her remaining in the post cause difficulty in corruption.
Giri, on the occasion, also announced that her party [Nepal Sadvawana Party-Anandidevi)] has withdrawn its support to the government.
